Join the rich history of agricultural excellence at Lakeland College. Build on what your parents taught you. Learn to handle crops and livestock with care, efficiency and professionalism. Receive hours of hands-on experience on our working farm and at our small animal clinic. Your expertise will be valuable to all streams of the agricultural industry from your own farm through a wide range of agribusiness, and from agricultural sales to vet practices.



Agribusiness

Study basic business and agricultural through accounting, economics, agronomy, salesmanship and sales management, marketing, communications and organizational behavior. Then, choose from one of three streams of study—financial, crops or livestock—to focus your career goals. You’ll be workforce ready for entry level management positions with agribusinesses, with agricultural agencies, or with banks or financial institutions working with agricultural and business clients.


Agroenvironmental Technology
Combine a thorough understanding of environmental issues and ecosystem management with hands-on training in agriculture. Learn sustainable animal husbandry and crop production practices, soil and water resource management, nutrient management, agricultural and environmental law, communications, chemistry, microbiology and environmental pollutants. Build skills adaptable to a variety of careers requiring a thorough understanding of both agriculture production and ecosystem management. Apply classroom knowledge to precision agriculture, soil management, movement of pollutants and dairy, feedlot and/or swine production management.

ACCC Awards and College Scholarships

Since 1972 the Association of Canadian Community Colleges (ACCC) represents colleges and institutes to government, business and industry, both in Canada and internationally.

The ACCC mission is to support Canadian Colleges in their provision of life-long learning opportunities which promote both individual development and that of the society and economy. The ACCC interacts with federal departments and agencies and links college capabilities to national industries.

The ACCC also organizes conferences and workshops for college staff, students and Board members to facilitate networking and participation in national and international activities such as sector studies, awards programs and linkages.

ACCC's Awards Program recognizes and promotes excellence within Canadian colleges and technical institutes. Awards showcase the extraordinary contribution of individuals to their college.

2007-2008 CISCO-ACCC Technology Scholarship for Women

The 2007-2008 CISCO/ACCC Technology Scholarship Program for Women is designed to encourage more women to enter into studies and careers in the growing IT sector. Female students entering the second year of a telecommunications or networking-related technology program can win one of six $1,000 scholarships.

CIDA's Awards of Excellence

In cooperation with the Association of Universities and Colleges of Canada (AUCC) and the Association of Canadian Community Colleges (ACCC), the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA) is pleased to establish the Awards of Excellence series. These awards are a tribute to Canadian educational institutions and their counterparts, and will serve to highlight their dynamic partnerships.
